Mayor Jeannette McCarthy would like to remind folks that on September 28th we once again honor our Gold Star Mothers. They are the mothers of who have lost a son or daughter in the service of our country. We should also remember Gold Star Families on this day.
The President of the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. Georgianna Carter-Krell in her acceptance speech made some interesting points about Gold Star Mothers.
“Our duty lies with those brave men and women who answered the nation’s call. As mothers we will work to help all the veterans’ families. We are America’s Gold Star Mothers and it is our job to hold a hand, wipe a tear, and listen to often repeated stories. It is our job to remember our sons and daughters, to remember their patriotism and sacrifice.”
Ms. Krell is the President of a great organization our greatest hope should be that they will not add any additional Mothers to the group. Mayor McCarthy asks that we remember our Gold Star Mothers and families in our prayers and all who are in service to our country.
